Our Vision is we are dedicated to building our students' education one plate at a time by providing proper nutrition to grow healthy minds and wellness for life.

Our Philosophy is that a child’s comprehensive development depends on a combination of physical, mental and psychosocial factors. The School Nutrition Program in combination with academia, applicable school-based community programs, physical education and adequate activity are important aspects of a child’s physical, mental and psychosocial development. Our successful alliance will achieve the common goal of comprehensive child development including enhanced learning through the facilitated provision of nutrition and physical education, healthy meals, adequate physical activity, and diverse mentoring.

Our Motto is good nutrition is a catalyst for quality teaching and learning! Why? It is because good health partly stems from good nutrition which impacts quality teaching and learning. Hence, we encourage both teacher and student to support and promote our food and nutrition services every day.

The Nutrition and Food Services Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are ServSafe certified and dedicated to students' health, well-being and their ability to learn. We support lifelong learning by promoting lifelong healthy nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods, and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students, educators, and/or other stakeholders.

Across the country, an increasing number of schools and districts have begun to source more foods locally and to provide complementary educational activities to students that emphasize food, farming, and nutrition. This nationwide movement is designed to enrich children’s bodies and minds while supporting local economies is often referred to as “Farm-to-School.”

One of the objectives of the School Nutrition Department is to serve healthy meals in school cafés and improve student nutrition, while providing agriculture, health and nutrition education opportunities in support of our local and regional farmers.

The key is to make these fresh options available and to encourage kids to try new things. Farm-to-School programs link school students and farmers in a way that improves foods offered in schools; educates kids about healthy eating and local foods; and creates income opportunities for farmers supplying schools.

A Farm-to-School Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program can be an important catalyst for change in our efforts to combat childhood obesity by helping children learn more healthful eating habits. It has also been proven to be a successful way to introduce kids and teens to a variety of produce that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to sample.

Please encourage our children to taste test our featured Georgia Grown produce (harvest) of the month. Our menus indicate the produce of the month harvested by our hardworking Georgia farmers and is our signature Farm-to-School promotion activity. Thanks in advance for promoting our nutrition and food services!
